Provides grants to artists, arts groups, and community organizations. The completed work must be available to local audiences. The Foundation also offers sponsorship to artists, groups, and organizations seeking non-profit status.

The Media, Arts and Culture Unit seeks to strengthen the arts and media as important contributors to the communities and societies in which they function. Most of the Foundation's grant funds are given to organizations. Grants to individuals are limited to research, training and other activities related to program interests.

The downtown Seattle Temporary Central Public Library, a Foundation Center Cooperating Collection, has a large collection of Foundation Center publications, including FC Search on CD Rom, a database of over 60,000 foundations and 200,000 grants. Offers grants to individuals and non-profit organizations. Grants are dedicated to those supporting and strengthening the research, preservation, programs, and education of the nation's culture. The Endowment does not fund the creative and performing arts but does fund the history and criticism of the arts. Only non-profit tax-exempt organizations may apply for funding for media projects.
