Arts, Crafts, and Theater Safety
A worldwide, free information service by phone, mail, and e-mail addressing art and theater hazards. Provides health and safety counseling for artists; safety, ventilation and industrial hygiene advice; educational materials; information from their technical library; and referrals to physicians and other professionals.
Art and Creative Materials Institute
Recognized as the leading authority on art and craft materials, the Institute maintains a list of non-toxic art materials and products.

Provides extensive resources regarding arts hazards and safety issues for artists.

An excellent source of information on health insurance that is broken down by state.
The Artists' Health Insurance Resource Center
If you are not earning health insurance through an employer, the Resource Center can provide you with the information necessary to make informed decisions about individual health insurance options available in each state. Find out about health insurance options available through unions or guilds, professional associations and more. Resources are also listed for those who cannot afford health insurance. The Resource Center is a project of the Actors' Fund of America and the NEA.

This publication includes an extensive list of resources for low cost health and dental services; membership organizations offering health insurance; medical and financial emergency assistance programs; and aids assistance programs. The information about insurance and health begins on page 11.
The Canadian Network for Health in the Arts
Seeks to bring together people who are interested in performing arts medicine and health issues. Performing artists concerned about performing arts injuries can sign up for a free e-mail list to ask questions. The site also includes information about current research and links to other information.

This site allows you to search for all types of health insurance based on your zip code. It gives policy breakdowns based on your age, gender and selected deductibles. It is also a good site to reference for the description of what different policies cover and what they don't, and is also broken down into individual versus small business plans.

Washington Artists Health Insurance Project (WAHIP)
Property and liability insurance
Information on an effort to develop new strategies to improve access to health insurance for artists. WAHIP is working to expand access to health insurance for artists working in all disciplines, and all individuals who are dedicated to a profession in the arts.
